Rookie Sensations

For the first time in NFL history four first round pick Quarterbacks (starters) have all won! Josh Rosen, Josh Allen, Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield all got huge wins for the respective clubs. Will this be the start of a terrific draft class? Time will tell. As for now let’s enjoy some young guys getting the job done!

Gano’s Good

Let me set the scene. Panthers trailing by 2 against an average Giants team. Ball on the 53 yard line with Graham Gano lining up a 63 yard game winning field goal. BANG! Gano nails it tying the record for longest game winning field goal in NFL history. Impressive stuff from Gano who showed kickers can get it done!

Amazing Drew

Drew Brees is now the all-time leader in passing yards for the NFL. He surpassed both Brett Favre and Peyton Manning during the Saints‘ Monday night win over the Washington Redskins. Brees has been an amazing Quarterback and roll model during his career and I’m sure there will be more history made this season by Drew, maybe even another Superbowl win!

Bad

Cowardly Coaching

Jason Garrett rarely appears in this article for positive reasons, and this is not an exception. By deciding to not go for it on a 4th and 1 in over-time basically gave the Texans the game. The Cowboys have invested a lot of money and resources in the offensive line and running game for this exact situation. About time Garrett stops clapping and starts making some smart decisions.

Kicker Woes

Mason Crosby has been a great kicker for the Packers for a long time. However, this week was one of the worst games I’ve ever seen a kicker have. Mason managed to miss five field goals this week which basically cost the Packers the game against their division rival Detroit Lions.

Tackling an Issue

In the pre-season I stated that Erik Flowers was the worst starting tackle in the NFL and would be a huge problem for the Giants. Finally, it seems this week that the Giants finally agree with me. The team released the former 9th overall pick after not being able to get a trade done. I predict he will clear waivers and be picked up by a team as a free agent. Although he has an uphill battle there is no doubt Flowers has talent. Maybe someone can get the best out of him, the Giants clearly couldn’t.
